Joshua is mostly a normal young adult living a normal life. He works at a video rental shop, puts up with random and cranky customers, and wastes too much time. However, there is also something unique about the young fellow, concerning his choice of collectables.

In his pasttime, Joshua collects demons. His source of information is a rather hard-looking tradesman who sends Joshua on artifact-finding missions. The tradesman sends Joshua to a variety of different worlds for a variety of different search-and-recover missions, one of which proves a little over the head of even Joshua-- an adept sorceror.

All he has to find is a gem, but the gem proves dangerous to find indeed. And as Joshua researches the land that holds the gem, the streets of this world begin to change. There is a revolution occuring directly under his feet (at the video store). Lumbering, festering undead begin to roam the streets, and Joshua keeps his eye on explosions and disruptions around his city. There is a demon that appears tied to the zombies and disturbances, but the demon also seems to already be tied to a master of impressive power... which, needless to say, only lures Joshua's interest even more.

As Joshua attempts to collect different 'pets', and as he attempts to understand the revolution that is occuring underneath his feet, a growing power and sense of identity sends Joshua into a dilemma: does he continue in his world of high turmoil, or does he search for a more tame and calm world of security and comfort?

Torn between living a 'normal' life and continuing down his current path, Joshua entertains himself with his video rental job and the demons that roam unseen, underneath the feet of people who have no idea what greater chaos awaits them in the near future...
